I & II - Side Plates - 10 ft. 6 in.
long, 1 ft. thick, 21 in. high forward of the skein bundle & 15 in.
high aft.
III - Aft Cross Piece - 4 ft. long, 1 ft. thick,
15 in. high.
IV - Forward Cross Piece - 21 in. high, 1 ft.
thick.
V - Center Cross Piece is 6 in. square.
Cross Pieces are mortised and tenonned into the
Side Plates
A - Skein of twisted cord - 8 in. diameter
B - Large Wheel
C - Pinion Wheel
D - Spindle Heads
E - Arm - 7 ft. long, 4 1/2 in. thick. Width tapers
8 in. at the butt, to 6 1/2 in. at the slip-hook ring bolt.
F - Roller 7 in. diameter
G - Spindle
H - Mortises for Uprights
K - Mortises for Sloping Supports

Catapult - Side View
A - Arm is wound down with 1 1/4 in rope.
B - The catapult arm is fully wound down with
a stone in the cup.
By pulling the the cord (E), the catpult arm is
released from the slip hook and returns to its original position at A.
C - The position of the catapult Arm at the moment
the stone leaves the Cup. The stone is projected upward at 45 degree
angle (D).

Catapult - Skein
A - The skein as first wound over the cross-bars
of the large wheels of the winches.
B - The skein with the butt-end of the catapult
arm placed between its halves.
C - The skein twisted up by the winches.

Catapult - Slip Hook
The metal slip-hook pulls down the catapult arm and also
releases it. The lever, or handle is 10 in. long. The point of the hook,
in the eye of the bolt, is 1 in. thick.

Catapult - Metal Catch for a
Small Catapult
I - The end of the catapult arm (F) is held
from escaping by the projection (B) of the hinged catch (D).
Knocking the end of the lever (A) with a mallet, releases the
leg of the catch (E).
II - The catch then rotates, releasing the catapult
arm (F).
